Thursday WoW Battlegrounds at Robinson’s Galleria Will Now Be Held In Eton Cyberpod

Yup, you read that right. Neutral Grounds waves goodbye Robinson’s Galleria. You can read more about Sir Freddie Tan’s thoughts about it HERE. Quite a sad day for most of us who grew up knowing that THE Neutral Grounds branch is the one at Galleria.

So what happens to the Thursday Battlegrounds now?

Well, it’s literally just a walk to the other side – the games will be held at the Neutral Grounds branch at Eton Cyberpod in their E-Life building (the leftmost building with stairs going down leading to the entrance) just right across Robinson’s Galleria’s Ortigas exit. Same time as always: 6:30pm.

We had our first game there yesterday, and all I can say is that it’s more comfy to play there – it’s cooler, has more space, and is near a Ministop branch. The only downside is that Eton’s available parking space, while free, is really cramped.

So let the games continue! See you there next week. :)

The Noblegarden Road – Second Part

A paltry turnout of six graced the Noblegarden celebration in Eton Cyberpod, probably the lowest attendance in a sealed event so far this year. Unfortunately, ECS didn’t join despite arriving on time but he was around to observe our deckbuilding methods and the matches themselves, and was more than enough willing to give me a lengthy lecture on the things I did wrong in-between matches. I ended up learning a lot today:

- In a 2:4 (or 3:3) WB-WotE split, both factions are almost even in terms of quality. This means that I have to take a closer look at my pool of Horde allies, who were bad in WB but got a huge boost in WotE.

- Remember to put everything in piles.

- Use the process of elimination in picking the right class and faction.

- Be flexible in picking your deck’s strategies.

- Review the basics. Curve is everything!

Anyway, at the end of the day, Aaron Arpon won the event, with our very own Marlo trailing closely behind at 2nd place – both at 2-1. As for me, I also ended 2-1 (4th place), but was lucky enough to win the other raffled playmat. :D

The next event happens on May 22,2011 – a Sunday! Hopefully we’ll have a better turnout.

Until then! :)

FTF: Markoff’s “Article”

It all starts with Matt Markoff posting a thread about his latest article for Warcraft TCG Trader regarding “solo” decks. It wasn’t long before it starts getting bombed on two fronts: how he defined the “solo” archetype (clearly the bigger issue), and the needless difficulty of finding the article itself (which is actually written HERE in Facebook… and to others, is the bigger issue). The ensuing discussion naturally attracted popular forum names like stiii, Isgee, BigDog, Mush, and even the elusive Narchon himself. Apparently the thread  had seen better days – currently a lot of the “nicer” posts have been deleted, but bits and pieces of amusing replies can still be found scattered throughout its eight pages of content.

For the record, I found the article in three clicks. :P

FTF: jaymyster’s RC Report

Realm Championship finalist Jay Tanhueco of Team Anjazz posted a lengthy report of his tournament experience. You can check it out HERE at the Realm Forums.

I think Red Unholy DK is a safe bet for a wide meta because its curve allows it to stave off early forms of aggression, while retaining the ability to curve early enough with tough allies and damaging weapons should the need arise for them to play as the aggressor. What puts them on top however, are the little techs which can make all the difference in the face of an unfavorable matchup. In Jay’s case, this takes form in the couple of Canissa the Shadows present in his list, which throws a wrench at the opponent’s big plans (like an immediate turn 10 Kel’Thuzad) and could buy that one, crucial turn.

I’m a bit partial to the singleton Shadowmourne though. It might have been better as a 3rd Edge or something. But hey, if it works I guess it’s all good. :)
